As my plane descended to Nice there were some spectacular mountain views in the distance.  But then I saw right below a sight I recognized - this is the lake at the end of the Gorge Verdon - a place we wold be driving through in a few days!  The gorge is at the top of the lake; then we drove, right at sunset, around the right side before heading off to Apt.
